Eco-Construction concepts are focused on supporting the efforts of the Herbal Medic teams in the field.  The skill set needed for a thorough understanding of construction concepts starts with practical skills that are needed in everyday life.

This day is divided into 2 half-day workshops.

HOW IT WORKS

Workshop #1 addresses eco-construction, scenarios and problem solving in a primitive context.

Workshop #2 will build off this for the modern urban backdrop.

Two online lectures/videos precede these workshops. Students will be given access after January 19th.

 

MORNING WORKSHOP: ECO-BUILDING IN A PRIMITIVE ENVIRONMENT.

Survival – Primitive;  Scenario problem solving
Action plan
Resource acquisition

Build one of the following

  1. Gear on the go
  2. Leather, Lenses, Bow drills
  3. Animal traps
  4. Mini shelters
  5. Water harvesting
  6. Fire pit – Mass heater – Rocket Stove – Hot water –
  7. Heating shelters

 

AFTERNOON WORKSHOP: ECO-BUILDING IN AN URBAN SETTING.

Community – Urban; Scenario problem solving
Action plan
Resource acquisition

Build one of the following

  1. Shelters
  2. Water systems
  3. Rocket stove –Mass heater –Cobb oven
  4. Soils, Rock, Clay, Cement
  5. Millwork
  6. Kiln, Forge
  7. Use of lenses

WORKSHOP DETAILS

Morning workshop is 9 to noon-ish.

Afternoon workshop is 1 to 4 pm.

Gear, directions and class information is sent to enrolled students prior to the class.

Tuition: $80. Includes both online lecture/videos.
