This is a combination of our two most popular sustainable foods workshops! Come out and learn the art of simple food fermentation in the morning with Austin-area chef Heather Skye and after lunch learn how to make butter, yogurt and simple cheese!
HOW TO SIGN UP: Each workshop is $35. You can sign up for just one workshop for $35 or get $10 off when you sign up for the full day of workshops for $60!
Each workshop has a $5 materials fee to cover many tasty and delicious samples for students.
WHAT WILL I LEARN? So much! In the morning, you’ll get a good background on one of history’s oldest preservation methods, and get hands-on experience making several fermented items (from vinegar to sauerkraut) and even go home with your own SCOBY culture to start your own!
In the afternoon’s Cheese-making class, you’ll leave knowing just what equipment you need and all the steps to follow in making delicious cheese right away! The workshop will teach you how to make simple, fresh cheese in your own kitchen. With the flavor ideas from this workshop, you will be able to make all kinds of creative and fun types of cheeses!
