In this hands-on 5-hour basic soap-making workshop you will make a batch of soap from start to finish. Students will learn about the science behind soap making, the different oils and their properties, discuss a tried-and-true soap recipe and what makes it work.
At the end of this hands-on workshop you will go home with 2 cured bars of soap that are ready to use and enjoy!
So, ditch the commercially-made soap that is chock fill of toxic ingredients and learn how to make your own naturally-made soap using several ingredients that are easy to source (some may already be found in your kitchen) along with the knowledge to go home and make more!
An excavation in Ancient Babylon has revealed evidence that Babylonians were making soap around 2800 BC. While the soap that the Babylonians were making (or even the soap that your Grandma made) compared to the batch of cold-process soap that you will make in this workshop using a tried-and-true recipe will share some similarities; it has come a long way from the fiery cauldron with a pinch of “this and that” from 6,000 year ago, to a well thought-out recipe that will nourish your skin.
