Eco-Construction concepts are focused on supporting the efforts of the Herbal Medic teams in the field.  The skill set needed for a thorough understanding of construction concepts starts with practical skills that are needed in everyday life.

This 2-hour intro lecture is part of the Off-Grid Engineering program and is followed by several hands-on workshops that utilize eco-construction fundamentals as part of the practical skills needed for small community development.

STAYING ALIVE CLASS 2

Take a look at the basic construction concepts related to post disaster shelter, fire, food and water and learn the best way to undertake these.

Community – Urban; Focus: Water, community infrastructure

  1. Permanent structures, to include topics ranging from shelter, food storage, mass heaters to water heating.
  2. Water / waste-water management systems
  3.  Logistics

This lecture will also cover resources, tools & hardware needed, structure types to work with, building with scavenged or recycled materials, water systems and a plan of action to get started with!

COURSE INFORMATION

Dates: This is a 4 week online course beginning on January 30th, 2023.

All course materials can be downloaded for personal future reference and use.

*Shipping of the poster is included for free with course tuition within the US. A digital copy will be provided to students outside of the US.

The online classroom access will close 4 weeks after the last week of class. Access will close on March 31st, 2023.

Registration closes on February 13th, 2023.

Course Hours: 16 contact hours for Physiology and Plant Science as well as Austere Medicine.
