To complete the full Alternative Power course, students must complete both an online primer (4 hours) and a 2-day workshop. The online course is pre-recorded and can be accessed within 2 weeks of the start date of the on-site workshop.
Learn the fundamentals of creating alternative methods of power in an off-grid or homestead environment for a family or small community. This is a great hands-on course for learning the basics of how to design and then install a wind-powered generator system as an alternative means of powering a small structure.
The online portion of the course will cover:
- wind powered generators
- the basics of electrical circuits as they apply to a small homestead
- designing a properly sized power system
- utilizing salvaged components
The online section will be opened for download two weeks prior to the weekend hands-on training held November 4-5th at our San Antonio campus.
Students will get lots of hands-on experience with:
- Assembling and erecting a wind-powered generator
- Installation of inverters, charge controllers and battery banks
- Assembling the final connection to a pre-wired tiny home (or other small structure).
