WOMEN FORGING STEEL: THE FIELD BLADE

This class is limited to 8 students and there are no refunds or transfers for tuition.

One of the most important tools a medic can have in the field is a reliable blade. In an austere environment, a sharp knife can be used in everything from camp survival skills to medical procedures and even self defense in an emergency.

Austin bladesmith James Brock will guide female students through a 2-day course on making a field blade that is multi-purpose, and will be forged to fit the hand to be easily carried in a medic kit, day pack or supply pouch.

Prior blacksmith experience is not required for this course, and the course will be limited to 8 students to ensure a low student to teacher ratio with plenty of hands-on training in the art of bladesmithing.

COURSE INFORMATION

Dates: November 2-3, 2019

Location: Directions will be emailed to all registered students in advance.

Lodging: Camping is free to any enrolled student, at our 50-acre campus. There are also hotels within a 10-minute drive of the campus in the 78260 zip code.

COURSE INFORMATION

Dates: This is a 4 week online course beginning on January 30th, 2023.

All course materials can be downloaded for personal future reference and use.

*Shipping of the poster is included for free with course tuition within the US. A digital copy will be provided to students outside of the US.

The online classroom access will close 4 weeks after the last week of class. Access will close on March 31st, 2023.

Registration closes on February 13th, 2023.

Course Hours: 16 contact hours for Physiology and Plant Science as well as Austere Medicine.
